Rochelle Goyle Cosplay - Sponsored by Monster High x Mattel

Late Fall 2012, I was approached by Monster High x Mattel about doing an amazing collaboration. They wanted me to choose one of the newer characters from Monster High and create a cosplay for myself, recording all my process work and doing a final series of images of fully dressed up in the cosplay. My work would then be showcased on all their social media websites around Halloween. What an honor! I love Monster High and the talented minds behind it so it was a no brainer to say yes. I was even provided with a small amount of funding to cover some of the materials, for which I was very grateful. If you are a cosplayer or have seen my Toralei costume blog, you will know that cosplaying can be a very expensive endeavor.

After much consideration and a very short deadline to actually design and construct everything, I decided that I wanted to cosplay Rochelle Goyle in her Scaris outfit. Totally adorable with many interesting textile graphics that would be fun to recreate in "human" scale :) These are the final images, you can find all my process work and "how-to" here.

"Monster High fan, Smash, has such epic cosplay style that we just had to partner with her on a truly rock solid Rochelle Goyle outfit. Creep through to find out more on her fangtastic blog http://smashworks.blogspot.ca/, her straight-from-Scaris lurk and her truly freaky-fab style!"

+Some of my final cosplay images with a really fun interview I did for the Gory Gazette!

"The Monster High Facebook recently debuted a series of pictures where epically talented Canadian cosplayer Smash resurrected her own version of Rochelle Goyle’s Scaris outfit. Get ready, Gory Gazette readers, because we tracked down the freaky-fabulous Smash for a 1-on-1, where she answers some of our most burning questions!"

The response from other MH fans has been lovely and I am glad to have been able to give them some ideas for creating their own cosplays too :) I hope I get to collaborate with Mattel more in the future, this was a great experience!
